Claudia is a MSc. Candidate in Integrated Studies in Land and Food Systems, and conducts research under the supervision of the Prof Eduardo Jovel at the Faculty of Land and Food Systems. From a gender and indigenous perspective, her study aims to extend the knowledge on Andean indigenous decision-making in a context of food insecurity and a highly vulnerable socioeconomic situation. She is exploring specifically the participation of women in household and community decision-making regarding food security in two agricultural indigenous communities from the Peruvian highland. Of special interest are women’s roles and actions regarding food production and food accessibility for their families and community.
To pursue her MSc. Claudia received the Chile-Canada Equal Opportunities Scholarship Program. She was awarded twice (2006, 2009) with the Documentary Scriptwriting Award from the Chilean Council of Culture and Art.
She holds a Bachelor in Social Communication (1997) and a Diploma in Documentary Production (2003), and has an extensive experience working as a Communication Specialist for public and private institutions in Chile.
